Student Parking Information

To purchase a semester parking assignment, you must have a valid UIC student i-card. A parking application must be submitted online every summer and fall semester. If you enroll in fall semester parking, the spring semester fee will be automatically billed to your UIC student account (regardless of class enrollment status).

CHARGES FOR SPRING WILL BE WAIVED ONLY IF THE ASSIGNMENT IS CANCELED BEFORE THE FIRST WEEK OF CLASS. If you did not enroll in fall semester parking, you must submit an application for the spring semester.

When submitting the application, you will have an option to select the lot of your choice based on space availability at the time of enrollment. The lots that appear on the drop down menu on the application are the only lots currently available.  Please note, there is a high demand for parking on the West/Medical Campus.  Most lots have a wait list, some with up to a 7 year wait. A list of current wait times is available here. You will have the option to place yourself on up to three wait lists at the time of enrollment.

You will receive an email when your i-card has been programmed for access to the lot you were issued, and the hang-tag pick-up date.  If the email is not received, you can check for the pick-up date and the status of your application by clicking on the submission.  The parking tag issued must be displayed on the rearview mirror while parked, as well as, entering/exiting the lot to avoid receiving citations. 2024-2025 Rates will be available early July 2024.

Parking Services will now offer a discounted daily parking program for those who occasionally need to park on campus.

You can participate in the Value Card Program which enables you to pay for parking on a per-use basis instead of having to retain semester parking assignments.  Students will pay a discounted rate of $9.00 each time they access a parking facility within a 24 hour period.  This represents a significant cost savings compared to the daily rate of $15.00. Visit the parking office to obtain your barcode ticket which functions as your value card.

Student Value Card Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

IF YOU NO LONGER NEED PARKING, leave the University, or graduate, you must return your parking hangtag to the Parking Office to avoid a charge for the subsequent term (Spring), and a fee for the unreturned hangtag from being applied.  You will remain responsible for the payment of all parking citations.

Fall Graduates: To avoid the Spring semester parking fee of $401 from being assessed to your student account, the hangtag must be returned to the parking office before December 15, 2023. It is recommended that you drop off the hangtag in person to avoid loss via mail.

Prorated refunds will be issued for parking assignments canceled before the 12^th week of class during Fall/Spring semester.  An assignment is considered cancelled when the tag is returned to the office.

Enrollment for fall parking assignment will become available starting July 17, 2023.

Enrollment for spring parking assignment will become available starting November 20, 2023.

Enrollment for summer parking assignments will become available starting April 22, 2024.

All UIC parking lots are self-park facilities. UIC is not responsible for the loss of, loss from, or damage to vehicles parked in university parking facilities, on the UIC campus, or on UIC property.

There may be occasions when it will not be possible to park in your regularly assigned lot. We reserve the right to such times to relocate you to another lot.

If you park a car on campus without a hangtag, call Parking Enforcement at (312) 355-0555 immediately to obtain a one-day permit. If you will be parking a vehicle without a hangtag for more than one day, you must obtain a Temporary Parking Permit from one of the Parking Offices.

If you forget your i-card or access card, you have two options:

1. Park in a visitor lot and go to one of the Parking Offices to obtain a no-fee exit permit.
2. Upon arrival at your assigned parking lot, you can contact Parking Enforcement at (312) 355-0555 or by using the PAU (Parking Assistance Unit) located at the entrance of the lot in order to enter/exit. Only three no-fees will be granted per semester.
