Full Value Card FAQs
FAQs
Current Parking Assignment
You can suspend your parking assignment here. If you are suspending your parking assignment, you should keep your hangtag. We will hold your parking space for one year, and you will not be removed from wait lists you are on.
If you prefer to cancel your assignment, you must return your hangtag to the Parking Office. Cancelling will remove you from all wait lists. Payroll deductions will continue if the hangtag is not returned to the Parking Office, and per IRS regulations, pre-tax deductions are non-refundable. If you do not return your hangtag, you will be charged $20.00.
CPA
You should switch to your deductions to the value card parking deduction plan. Your assigned lot will not change. Your i–card will be used as a value card and $7.00 will be deducted each time the card is used to access the parking lot. You can switch your payroll deductions here.
Program
The value card program allows you to pay for parking on a per use basis. There are two types of value cards: the University issued i-card and a barcode card (ticket). To use the i-card as a value card, parking funds are replenished via payroll deductions (faculty and staff only). Your i-card is used to access a designated parking facility. For barcode cards, funds are replenished by manually adding money to the card at one of the Parking Offices or at the pay-on-foot stations located in the parking garages. Currently, the barcode card can be used at any visitor parking lot.
Barcode
The value card is created from the ticket that is pulled from any ticket entry station (spitter) on campus. You will need to visit one of the Parking Offices with that ticket for the initial setup. Each time you scan the value card at the exit of designated parking lots, $7.00 ($5.00 for students) will be deducted from the card.
How funds can be added
Funds can be added to the card by either visiting any of the Parking Offices or at any of the Pay on Foot stations located inside of the parking garages listed below.

Lost Value Card
If you lose your value card or it is damaged, please visit the Parking Office with a new ticket from one of the ticket spitters located in any parking lot. We will convert that ticket into your new value card. Any funds remaining on the previous card will be transferred on the new one. If you lose your i-card, you must visit the University ID Office to replace it. When you receive your new i-card, you must contact the Parking Office with the updated card number.

Switching
You can switch to a regular assignment. However, unless you had a previously suspended parking assignment, there is no guarantee that you will be in the same lot where you use your value card.
Reserved parking
Reserved parking assignments can not be suspended and are ineligible for the Value Card Program.
Evening Parking Assignment
The value card is only available for 24 -hour parking assignments. It would be more economical to purchase evening parking stickers at a cost of $63.00 for a page of 10 or $542 for a book of 100. The parking stickers can only be used in visitor parking lots when there is a cashier in the booth.
Extra Help
Yes, all UIC employees and students with a valid i-card are eligible to enroll in the value card program. However, only faculty and staff are able to replenish the card via payroll deductions.
